Because of this European Union Microsoft competition case, Microsoft wants you to feel free to decide which web browser you want to have on your windows machine. Hence they came up with this BrowserChoice.
Though this will only pertain to countries in European Union, it could be used as a tool to install and try other interesting browsers.
